On July 12th, at 0818 UTC, PoGOLite was launched from the Esrange Space Centre. After launch, the balloon climbed in a south-easterly direction before catching the stratospheric winds and changing course towards the West. After 4 hours, the 1 million cubic metre helium-filled balloon was floating at an altitude of approximately 39 km and moving with a speed of 15 metres per second towards Greenland. Esrange personnel did an excellent job of delivering POGOLite to the edge of space. You can follow the balloon trajectory at
