ESA
Sweden is one of the founding members of the European Space Agency, ESA, and ESA has high importance for most Swedish space activities. The Swedish contribution to ESA accounts for about 65 % of the SNSB budget, so almost 600 million SEK is used for ESA projects every year.
Sweden participates in the mandatory basic and scientific programs as well as in the optional programs on earth observation, telecommunications, technology, exploration, microgravity, launcher development, international space station and navigation. The Swedish part of the mandatory programs is at present 2.64%. The Swedish participation in ESA optional programs is listed below.
